Neil Rich & John Morris

Colin McRae 1 or 2 later John? 'Er...with ice please. At speed, the early days.            In the lanes.

NE stats:
1 x 3rd O/A placing.

Class winners: 97/98 season.

Profile:

Neil started his rallying exploits during the early nineties having shown interest from the age of 15! Building a Sunbeam Ti paved the way and was soon competing on single venues throughout the Midlands & beyond. Having "dented" the car a new shell was found, allowing another sensible season at venues such as Carwent, Down Ampney etc. The faithful machine was then sold to two gents from Northern Ireland in the late nineties allowing Neil to take stock. Thanks of course go to his many sponsors; DNA Hair Salon, Kestral Tyres, Comma Motorsports & Champion. Not forgetting of course his employers:

It was at this time that a chance meeting with PhilM, whilst being escorted (!) about for the night with DickL/Karl/E, decided his navigational future for a season or three. An XR3 was purchased for a not very princely sum, and have been regulars till this day. (Apart, that is, from a short break when John decided to break a leg!)

Road Rallying also beckoned and these two chaps have competed on many to date. Moonbeam, Border 100, Starlight, Midsummer and the Pacemaker amongst them. A reasonable 309GTi was acquired and most local events tackled during the turn of the century and beyond.

Plans are to compete on more NE rounds, another season in Road Rallying before swapping to the drivers seat for an assault on a sensible road event. Jordan, Neil's son will soon be having some attention with respect to racing a Mini at Hednesford or Barton in the future. Watch this space... photos to follow.
