NE stats:

Karen:  6 x 3rd, 7 x 2nd, 10 x 1st O/A placing.

Profile: Phil’s long suffering driver since way back in the 97/98 season. Phil’s long suffering wife since!!??

Will normally be located next to a Real Ale tap after most events, also supported by the effervescent JulieD.         Runner up for the 00/01 NE season, Karen has manhandled the good olde RS2000 with aplomb. Phil notes one memorable drive, R6 99/00, as being her best to date, having played catch up after a navigational error (!) then coming through with a clean sheet and a well earned victory.

Her love of music & animals lends her a little peace now, but in days gone by was no stranger to the LH seat in a rally car. Donning a helmet in ’86, victory on a local single venue with Phil was a nice result, (“even if he did spin on the final stage and we won by just 1 second!”)

NE memory: “Sliding down hill on a muddy yellow watching Dave Clayton & nav slide uphill toward us on the same yellow,” many seasons ago. Contact was avoided…

Phil:  14 x 3rd, 17 x 2nd, 23 x 1st O/A placing.  99/00, 07/08  O/A Challenge winner.

Profile: Information can be found elsewhere with regard to the Challenge. Having said that, I have the enviable (!) job of co-ordinating the Northern Exposure Navigation Challenge. Needless to say this keeps me reasonably busy whilst finding time for other ventures, such as this web site…

A lifetime love of motorcars led to a long, (but keeping the story brief,) history of Rallying & driving. A round circle story really: Nav events, 12 car rallies, Road rallying, Single venue & Stage events then to the, as was, premier EARS Motoring News asphalt national championship. A return to the navigating seat for various events drew the circle to a close.

Favorites: Well, to many too mention really but the Manx and closed road rallying in Ireland rank with the best. Whilst driving I have been lucky enough to have a variety of navigators including: KarenM,  Derek Humphries, Gareth Thomas, Anthony Ellis, Andrew Morris, Nick Darkin & the ubiquitous Mark Snelson...

Also known to pedal a mean go-kart, I am employed as "chief mechanic" on a 1/10th scale RC Racer of which my son, Simon, is an extremely competitive member of the local RC race club.

He recently debuted on an NE event and came a very creditable 5th o/a!

My heroes include the late great Roger Albert Clark, Ari Vatanen and Colin McRae.
